I am an RN, MSN, CPN, CPON who has cared for kids at the bedside since 1987. Although my entire career has been in pediatrics, and most of it in Hematology/Oncology/Bone marrow transplant, I have also had the opportunity to work in home care, palliative care, renal, general med/surg, teaching sexual education, and outpatient clinic. Presently, I am the Clinical Practice and Education Specialist for our HemOnc department at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, VA. I also am an instructor for ELNEC Death and Dying, APHON's Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course, Cancer Fundamentals, and many other classes hospital wide. In addition to being a nurse, I am a single mom to three wildly unique, beautiful and renegade young women, 26,23 and 19. They keep me very real, always challenged and mostly joyful.
Although Arizona was my home for 22 years, where I enjoyed most of my career at Phoenix Children's Hospital, I moved my girls from our "once upon a time" life, after my husband's death in 2011. I now live by the healing sea, in a wonderful little cottage in Virginia Beach's north end, where I love to ride my bike, walk my big rescue mutt, Zona, on the beach, plant my flowers, read fiction, watch artsy films, eat well, and travel whenever life allows.
